I expect someone has some old carbine handguards sitting around gathering dust. I agree that the standard handguard for 308 used to be the ribbed FF tube, but clearly they have incorporated standard style, non FF handguards on the Sportical and Oracle models. But you can also see that the the difference between the hole and the full outside diameter is much smaller on the 308. Now clearly the hole is bigger on the 308 for that larger extension.

I agree with the idea that since the 308 barrel extension is bigger then regular AR15 handguards cant work.
